Wisdom Teeth Removal
There's a new dental practice in Denver, CO
What is Wisdom Teeth Removal?
Almost all older teens and adults will have wisdom teeth that begin to develop. They are often seen on dental x-rays. If you do not have enough room for these third molars to come up through the gums, they will become impacted and may be painful. When this occurs, it’s recommended to remove them via a simple and convenient oral surgery.
Why is Wisdom Teeth Removal needed?
If your wisdom teeth are impacted, they will eventually become painful and problematic. They may even become infected, inflamed or abscessed in a way that causes them to affect your oral health. In severe cases, the wisdom teeth can cause damage to the second molars, creating root fractures and severe pain. This is why we recommend having your wisdom teeth removed as soon as possible to prevent these issues from happening.
Who is a candidate for Wisdom Teeth Removal?
If you have impacted wisdom teeth, we’ll often recommend removing them to prevent further problems. We will be able to identify where your wisdom teeth are and how they’re positioned with the help of a dental x-ray. The x-ray is useful in allowing us to create a treatment plan that’s just for you. Whether you are dealing with problems right now or just have impacted wisdom teeth, it’s best to have them removed as soon as feasibly possible.
What happens during Wisdom Teeth Removal?
The first step is to consult with you and discuss sedation options and techniques. We then provide you with the sedation you want and create a small incision through the gums. The wisdom tooth is then removed and the same process is repeated for any and all problematic teeth. You will be given sutures to close the gums and will bite down on gauze to stop the bleeding. If you have undergone sedation, we’ll recommend that you go home with someone else because it is unsafe for you to drive yourself.
If you suspect that your wisdom teeth need to be removed, call us today and we can get you into our office with customized care and low wait times.
